IBP Macro Manager

IBP Macro Manager: Design and run your own macros in IBP

  • Due to its core design, there is no way to call for macros in a SAP IBP implementation like it was previously possible in an APO-DP/SNP instance. Useless to mention this feature was deeply appreciated by the whole APO community.

To close this gap, DOWAP has designed an additional component, IBP Macro Manager, that allows IBP customer to create and run any executable macros in SAP IBP. Powered by Excel and XSBS, IBP MM component is simple and powerful. Natively integrated with IBP, it increases your calculation capabilities and push further the feature of the new SAP IBP solution.

With DOWAP IBP Macro Manager, introducing business rules becomes as easy as creating your formulas in an Excel Spreadsheet, within a design phase of couple minutes. Once designed you may relate the execution of this macro with a time schedule or IBP event triggers.

Hereafter are a few examples of what kind of macro you can create with IBP MM, though SAP does not provide any planning operator.

    • projected stock, introducing your own logic
    • Calculate Seasonality coefficients
    • Calculate a stock coverage, with you company calendar or a location based
    • Create your Advanced ABC/XYZ classification, according to your business
    • Calculate a Life cycle status based on a polluted sales history
    • Create the base line for a collaborative logic (forecast, Supply, …)
    • Custom rules

Take advantage of a high flexibility in modeling, using intrinsic SAP IBP capabilities, without compromising on SAP HANA performances.

IBP Macro Manager Benefits:

Seamless integration with SAP IBP to bring a better user experience
Fast implementation! Keep a fast and powerful deployment of SAP RDS by implementing your specifics in IBP Macro Manager
SAP standard sustainability! Do not be afraid of SAP release cycles. Your specifics are primarily handled by IBP Macro Manager solution.

IBP Macro Manager components

  • A complete solution covering the entire macros life cycle !

  • Macro-Designer: How to?

First. You open an IBP planning view that shows your input and output data (keyfigures and attributes).

Second. From the IBP MM ribbon, you select IBP Keyfigures as well as IBP attributes, required in your business logic.

Third. By so doing, an Excel worksheet is created automatically, including the dimensions and the data to be managed by you macro to come, over a selected time period.

Forth. You now create the necessary formula that populate you output keyfigures from input ones. You introduce anything like mathematics, aggregation, disaggregation, coded macro etc…While so doing, you can test your macro and cross-check anticipated results.

Fifth. Once you are finished, you activate the Macro with a simple click, so that your macro is now deployed on the execution server. This last step is the end of the design phase.

Next steps happen on the Execution server.

Orchestration: What is it ?

This is a Web application which allows you to monitor the macros execution and logs monitoring. You can schedule your macro jobs either on a cyclic basis (every day 12:15, every week Monday…) or following IBP triggers. Orchestration tool provides you with analytics showing reporting and KPI around macro executions

Execution Server: For what ?

This is the Server on which macro jobs are executed. It is driven by Orchestration tool. It supports multi-tasking, as well as jobs parallelization, allowing several jobs to run in parallel, either for the same user or for different stakeholders. Execution Server may be implemented on-Premise, on any windows server. On the other hand, you may also go for a SAAS option, with this execution server being in the Cloud, from DOWAP resources.

LAST but not LEAST

With the minimum impact on your time and resources, IBP MM has to be implemented on your laptop from the ribbon perspective, taking about 5’. Then depending of your company choice, the server implementation is likely to be couple hours from your IT organization, or couple minutes in SAAS mode. This is it! From this point, you are able to start creating your first own macros which will decuple the power of your IBP implementation with your own business rules. Any new rule may be as low as 15’ design before the first execution, all this with only EXCEL skills, no programming ones.
